Overview

Sophie Kettle, the world's youngest female hill climb driver, entrusted Grid Media to design her helmet that conveys her brand and makes a bold statement on the track; this design wasn't just about aesthetics but was about amplifying Sophie's professional image and creating a visual representation of her speed, determination, and unique personality. We have long been strong advocates for greater diversity in motorsport, including the desire to see more women and young girls on the grid, so we were incredibly excited to collaborate with Sophie on her branding and helmet design.

The Challenge

Having already developed Sophie's core brand identity, we wanted to integrate her existing brand elements into her new helmet design seamlessly. With her drive and dedication to fitness and health, Sophie represents a new generation of drivers. She needed a helmet design that reflected her personality and sporting commitment but would also stand out on track while maintaining a cohesive brand experience across all platforms and touch points.

The Solution

Our collaborative approach ensured that Sophie's vision was at the forefront of the design process. We worked closely with her to select a colour palette that was very personal to Sophie and captured her energy and dynamism, drawing inspiration from her existing brand guidelines developed by Grid Media. The dynamic "SK" monogram from her logo, with its distinctive take on the letter "K", provided a perfect opportunity to create a chevron motif, symbolising speed and forward momentum.

We then translated these concepts into a striking helmet design using the distinctive chevron pattern to wrap around the helmet, seamlessly integrating Sophie's logomark.

The Result

The final design is a testament to Sophie's drive and determination. It's a bold, eye-catching helmet that captures her personality while projecting a stylish, contemporary image that will resonate with sponsors and fans alike. This design strengthens Sophie's brand and contributes to a more inclusive and diverse landscape in motorsport.
